Earth Sciences 10
In this exploratory course, students are introduced to the rich and diverse natural resources of Alberta. They will develop an understanding of the social, economic and political significance of environmental stewardship. Students will study the diversity of wildlife and develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge related to wildlife and ecosystems. Students also explore the geology found in Alberta and examine the nature and origin of Alberta’s hydrocarbon and mineral resources, and their significance in society.
Earth Sciences 20 & 30
In the 20 and 30 level courses, students continue to build on previous knowledge and examine the natural resources of Alberta with a focus on renewable and non-renewable energy sources, wildlife management and environmental stewardship. Students look, in detail, at oil and gas exploration and hydrocarbon exploration.
