Resources for parents

  • Calgary Family Services present Connect© Parenting Group. This group supports parents and caregivers of teens with difficult behavioral and emotional problems. Each week parents will meet in small groups with trained leaders and learn new perspectives on parent/teen relationships and adolescent development. The goal is to help parents see choices that support healthy relationships while setting limits and helping their teen to move forward (more info)
  • Sunrise Community Link Resource Centre (Sunrise) is a grassroots community development agency and resource centre engaged in poverty reduction and community economic capacity building in east Calgary. This includes the communities of Abbeydale, Albert Park/Radisson Heights, Applewood, Dover, Erin Woods, Forest Heights, Forest Lawn, Franklin/Meridian Business Park, Marlborough, Marlborough Park, Mayland Heights, West Dover, Dover Glen, Penbrooke Meadows, Red Carpet, and Southview (website)
  • Calgary Learning Village Collaborative (CLVC) is 12 Partner organizations supporting children’s positive physical, social, emotional and cognitive development through a school-based model in Calgary’s Greater Forest Lawn (GFL) area (website)
  • Parent Support Association of Calgary program focuses on establishing mutual respect, taking responsibility and putting issues in perspective. When parents adapt this philosophy, they begin to feel less overwhelmed, less angry, less exhausted and more hopeful for their teen's future (website)
