Diploma Computer Tutorials for English and Social
Want to write your English or Social 30 Diploma Exam on computer? In order to be allowed to do this, you MUST attend a tutorial!!
How do I sign up?
In May and November of each year, english and social 30 level teachers are given forms to give out to students who wish to apply to use a computer to type up their essays and personal responses. These forms are not given out in the office. Get it from your teacher!
Tutorial Schedule
Schedules will be posted at the 52 AVE door bulletin board (the exit to the mini mall north of the building) and the bulletin board outside the Main Office. It's also posted online by last name HERE when it's tutorial time each semester.
The Schedule is ALPHABETICAL by LAST NAME. Find your name and note the time and place.
For a more detailed schedule with rooms and teachers in charge, see the schedules posted around the school or click HERE (link down until new list is generated). This document is a printable pdf, that is arranged by student ID number.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES (IMPORTANT SO PLEASE READ!)
-
Find your name (or ID number) on the posted list. If you cannot find your name and believe you should be on the list, you need to speak to the office right away. Remember that you must have put in an application through your English 30 or Social 30 teacher to get on the list.
-
Check your scheduled times for any conflicts. Note that the diploma exam computer tutorial should take priority over most conflicts. IF THERE IS A LEGITIMATE CONFLICT, you need to speak to Mrs. Hergenhein right away.
-
Write down the day, room and supervising teacher's name of your scheduled tutorial. YOU CANNOT MISS THIS TIME. If you do, you will be unable to write your exam using a computer.
- Tutorials begin at the beginning of lunch (11:35 PM) on the specified day. It is your responsibility to:
- be there on time
- to know how to type sufficiently well and fast enough for computer use to NOT be a disadvantage!
- how to format using Word 2010 to complete the tutorial without significant help. This will be covered during the tutorial and, should you wish a refresher, you can work through this.
- This is a DRY RUN of the actual diploma procedures, and that means you need to bring (and not bring) certain materials. See below:
How do I prepare for the tutorial?
As mentioned, we've changed the tutorial so it will be an almost exact dry run of the day of the exam. Thus, we will expect you to:
- BRING a PEN.
- YOU MUST WEAR YOUR LANYARD.
- DO NOT BRING ELECTRONICS, such as iPods and cellphones to the tutorial.
