Prohibited Activities on Computers

Students at Dr. E. P. Scarlett are required to sign an Acceptable Use Policy form in
order to have computer access to the CBE network. There are certain activities that are
prohibited on the computers. They are:
- Sending or displaying offensive messages or pictures
- Using obscene language
- Harassing, insulting, or attacking others
- Damaging computer equipment or the network
- Violating copyright laws
- Using other peoples passwords or accounts
- Giving their account or password to another student
- Trespassing into other peoples folders, work, or files
- Employing the CBE network for commercial purposes
- Using electronic medium for plagiarizing
- Storing and using information for cheating
- Intentionally wasting network resources such as:
- playing games
- participating in non-teacher-directed "chat"
- downloading software or restricted files (e.g. exe, zip, mp3)
- installing software on any school computer
- playing music CD in the computers CD-ROM drive
- excessive or inappropriate printing
Students involved in prohibited activities on our computer network or
their calculators may experience the following consequences:
- internet and/or computer use privilege suspension
- a letter sent home to parents/guardian and added to the student files
- a referral to a school administrator.
