The following procedure is to be followed when a student engages in unacceptable computer activities:

  1. First offense: Give the student’s name, and reason for privileges to be removed, to the Teacher Librarian, Web Administrator, Computer Technician or Network Administrator. A student’s I.D. number may also be necessary in some cases, e.g. surnames such as Smith or Wong.

The student’s account will be disabled as soon as possible.

If a student questions the removal of their computer network and/or Internet privileges, the person who removed the privilege will be available for a meeting at a mutually agreed upon time.

  1. The student’s name will be published on the staff section of the daily bulletin, along with a reactivate date.
  2. A (form) letter will be sent to the student’s home notifying the parent(s)/guardian that there has been unacceptable use of the computer resources
  3. Infractions of the signed CBE Acceptable Use Policy for Networked Resources form will result a minimum two-week suspension from use of the Internet and /or computer network. Some offenses will be subject to further reprimand - at the discretion of the administrator who disabled your account.
  4. Second offense: A student referral form will be sent to the appropriate Assistant Principal. The Assistant Principal will contact the parent / guardian. The student’s privileges will be removed for a period in excess of two weeks.
  5. Third offense: Suspension of computer network privileges will be determined by the administrator who disabled your account in consultation with Assistant Principal whenever necessary.
  6. Reinstatement of network privileges will occur as soon as the penalty period has expired.
