Graphic Design

The Graphic Design Program gives students the opportunity to explore their interest and develop skills required in the fields of:

1.

architecture, engineering, interior, landscape, environmental, industrial design and graphic design

2.

3d-modeling and animation

Students use and further develop creative, technical, innovative and problem solving skills that will heighten their ability to be successful in their current high school courses and in pursuit of a career. There are three main components common to all 3 levels of Graphic Design:

Blue Arrow

The Creative Process from conception through to development in architecture, industrial design, engineering, interior design, landscaping, 3D Modelling and Animation.

Blue Arrow

CAD (Computer Assisted Design)-Students will develop technical and problem solving skills using industry standard software. 3D Modelling and animation - Maya - you will use an industry standard software to learn 3D modeling and animation.

Blue Arrow

Support software to facilitate skill development and problem solving include products such as: Autodesk's Revit Architecture, AutoCAD, Inventor, Maya, Mudbox, 3D Studio Max; Microsoft's Office Suite and Adobe's Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign programs

Graphic Design 10

This course provides basic skills and knowledge of the Principles and Elements of Design and the Design Process. Students will develop technical skills in software such as: Revit Architecture, Adobe Illustrator and Maya.

Upon completion, students should be able to:

Blue Arrow

Look at simple objects and draw them freehand with reasonable accuracy

Blue Arrow

Look at simple objects and draw them freehand with reasonable accuracy

Blue Arrow

Identify the principles and elements of design.

Blue Arrow

Recognize the steps of a design process.

Blue Arrow

Solve simple pre-set problems by following a design process.

Blue Arrow

Use basic techniques common to two-and three-dimensional design.

Blue Arrow

Recognize and use some of the elements and principles of design in their work.
