function art applet

Click the FunctionArt button below to start the Applet. The Function Art applet has the following standard graphing capabilities:

  • Click and drag with the left mouse button to draw a box around an area to zoom in on.
  • Enter specific values for xmin, xmax, ymin, and ymax (don't forget to click the Set Limits button).

The Function Art applet also has the following capabilities that make it flexible for creating artistic designs:
  • You can change the function being plotted in the box beside "f(x)=" and then click New Function
Note:
      • Multiplication must be signified with the "*" symbol
      • Exponentiation is signified with the "^" symbol
For example, to plot a parabola centered at (2,3), you could enter: 2*(x-2)^2 + 3

  • You can change the Domain of the function being plotted by changing the value of Domain Min and/or Domain Max (you can either move the slider or enter a specific numeric value)
  • You can specify a list of functions to be plotted by entering them, along with the Domain Minimum and Domain Maximum, in the box at the bottom of the screen, and then clicking on the Load button.  For example, the following text would plot two parabolas from x = -3 to x = 4:
x*x ; -3 ; 4
x*x + 2 ; -3 ; 4
