School Engagement:

Definition: Youth is engaged in meaningful learning and working hard in the classroom and in school related activities. The staff has the interpersonal skills necessary to engage in effective organizational functioning and the professional skills necessary for effective teaching.

How do we improve student engagement in their classroom? How many students are engaged today? How do we tell? What percentage of students are engaged in clubs etc. Why are some students not engaged? How do we change to meet this need?

Aggregate survey results: 67% of the students at Discovering Choices perceive themselves as being engaged in meaningful learning and hard work in the classroom..

Initiative: November 2007: Read and Write Gold, a computer based program to assist students in reading, writing, research and study skills.
