picking a high school |

We recommend students visit high school open houses to learn about the programs. High School open houses are usually held mid- to late fall.

Grade 9 students must visit the school of their choice or designation to request enrollment to that school by March 15th. The school will initiate the transfer process and complete your enrolment according to their guidelines. This is also true for CBe-learn Sr. High. Students are not automatically enrolled from Jr. High to Sr. High online.

cbe high schools | All Calgary Board of Education schools offer Open Houses and Grade 9 tours. Dates, locations and contact information can be found on this page: CBE HIGH SCHOOL OPEN HOUSES

deadlines | Students must decide on their High School by March 15th. To be considered for a seat in the fall, families must get a transfer form from their designated High School and take it to their desired High School by March 15th.

student services | Students who plan to attend CBe-learn Sr. High will need to register for the Fall semester in August. Our Student Services team can provide program planning support by appointment in the month of June. Schedule a meeting with our Student Services department to come up with an action plan and complete registration.  We would be pleased to meet with you earlier in the school year as well to support next year decision making and the application process to transfer from the designated high school.

parents | The CBE has created a High School page for parents and students. This page outlines the programs and courses involved in planning your child’s high school program, and will help you to provide assistance and advice to your child. You are also invited to attend the CBe-learn information session, hosted in January.

goals | An important part of the transition from grade 9 to grade 10 is to have future goals in mind when planning for and enrolling in CBe-learn High School. Some grade 10 courses are prerequisites for more advanced high school courses. As well, certain courses enable students to meet entry requirements for post-secondary programs or to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to enter directly into a career after high school.

teacher recommendations | First sememster report cards include teacher recommendations for enrolment in each subject area. If you have any questions or concerns about teacher recommendations for a specific subject area, it is best to direct these to the corresponding teacher.

In this meeting, you will learn about Alberta High School Diploma requirements; which courses are typically offered in Senior High online; an introduction to Pre-learn (a course to help students better prepare to be an online learner); an overview of the differences between online Junior High and online Senior High; and other information parents and students need when transitioning from grade 9 into grade 10.

grade 10 @ CBe-learn | CBe-learn Grade 10 CBe-learn offers many choices for grade 10 students, including the ability to complete work in two semesters, or throughout the whole year. Students interested in attending grade 10 at CBe-learn should review this information.
