keeping abreast of change

November 8, 2011

The Professional Beauty Industry and Fashion is constantly evolving. Amidst the changes- are new products- new techniques- business training, marketing and sales. In order to keep abreast and ensure that our students get the leading-edge in education the teachers and instructors need to continually advance their own education. Building relationships with industry leaders is also very important and beneficial for our students as they get known in the industry for jobs. We were so excited for the opportunity to be a part of Carol's seminar in Edmonton as opposed to flying to the U.S.

Jodi Silliker-Nordquist and Sandra Alexcae Moren of the Cosmetology Program at the CT Center attended the Esthetique Spa International Show in Edmonton, Alberta, on Sunday, October 16, 2011. They met industry leaders and attended classes with Carol Phillips of San Deigo. Carol is a dynamic internationally known Keynote Speaker, trainer, industry consultant, and successful spa owner.

As The CTC Salon and Spa prepares to open at the CT Center, it is imperative we have the latest knowledge in marketing the spa. The students have specific courses that they complete to assist in the process. It is easy for students to fill in blanks in a workbook with information from a textbook; however, through dedicated efforts they develop skills necessary to achieve success in the industry.

We have our students work on projects that are relevant to opening the actual spa as a business. They have done some incredible marketing plans and the results are shown in the brochure we will have available for the opening.

We were very excited when we realized that what Carol was sharing with us- we are doing!!! As with any seminar we picked up some great ideas to share with the students.

Regardless of the demographics- guests/clients are getting tired of the "factory facial" and are more demanding, expressing what they desire in a facial. Choosing a specific skin care line for a spa is a very complicated process with a definite logistical sequence. As we choose a line for our Spa we involve the students in the process so they have a practical understanding rather than a theoretical concept.

Creating a beautiful environment with ambiance to ensure the guest/client has an incredible spa experience is what our ultimate vision and goal is. We are creating an environment where our students will not only perform incredible services and treatments they will share their knowledge with you and educate you on your skin care, body care nails, and makeup concerns.

Keeping our students and guests/clients abreast of the latest in services/treatments, products, makeup, makeup techniques and seasonal hot and edgy colors is our goal. The trendy new smoky eye is very popular and the students can personalize your makeup with our fabulous new makeup line that we carry.

The CTC Salon and Spa is very excited about the new Spa opening in the Cosmetology Program.
